If you're ever in New York City and your are just as obsessed with rooftop bars and pools as I am, this list of my favourites will help you find some real gems.
525 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10013, USA
Hotel Hugo's Azul on the Rooftop resembles a cosy cantina from the streets of Havana with an amazing 360- degree view of Lower Manhattan.
I went there with some of my friends from salsa to get drinks before we headed to Pier 45, for our weekly Sunset Salsa Party.
Mojitos are out of this world at Azul, definitely have one when you're there and if you have time, try to get there for sunset. The 360-degree view takes the whole experience to another level.
They also have amazing weekly events, such as Live Cuban Music every Sunday and during summer they have a Rooftop Cinema. Hope you'll enjoy the views from there as much as I did with my friends. You all know I'm a sucker for sunsets.
Also, whenever you're done drinking and enjoying the view, why not take a walk on Hudson River Greenway and enjoy the breeze and the evening lights of NYC?! You shouldn't miss out on that!
96 Wythe Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249, USA
This place has it all: an incredible bar, a stunning pool, cabanas, yoga classes, high tea and of course a breathtaking view of NYC.
Not a bad view, right?
Although, it looks beautiful and spending a day here is something we all need to do at least once in our lives, their prices are quite high.
Entrance for non-hotel guests to the rooftop pool is $100/day, therefore, I recommend you get there early and spend your whole day there for all that money. These Day Passes let you up starting from 11AM to 6PM. Prices are higher during the weekend, jumping to $150/day from Friday to Sunday.
If you're adventurous maybe try to make friends with some of the hotel guests, because they're all allowed to bring 2 guests each to the pool with them, and maybe offer to buy them a drink. Try your luck if you really want to avoid paying.
The Standard, High Line, 848 Washington St, New York, NY 10014, USA
Le Bain is a penthouse discothèque and rooftop bar on the top floor of The Standard, High Line in the Meatpacking District featuring world-famous DJs, a state-of-the-art sound system and exclamation-inspiring views. if you're there during summer you can take a plunge in the pool situated in the middle of the dance floor, or munch on some yum crepes, while sitting on the "grass" covered rooftop.
You have to be aware that there's an entrance fee, which is always determined on the day, so it could be different depending on the day of your visit.
Truth is that they have some mind-blowing drinks, and some skilful bartenders, but you gotta pay the price for it. Is it worth it though, you asking? Hell yes!
23 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10010, USA
I originally went to Broken Shaker in NYC, because I have absolutely fell in love with the concept of this bar while I was in Miami.
Your drinks won't be served by simple bartenders, everyone who works there is a mixologist. They use fresh pressed juices and exotic ingredients from around the world.
The view from the Broken Shaker is incredible, you can see the Empire State Building clearly and the whole design of the place is pleasant, with vibrant colours.
There's no entrance fee and everything is on a first come first serve basis.
5. PH-D Lounge
355 W 16th St, New York, NY 10011, USA
The Penthouse at Dream Downtown is one of my favourite rooftop lounges. Not only because, I've had some of the best times and nights out here, but the views of the Manhattan skyline and the Hudson River are ah-mazing!
There's a party you could join here every night of the week. There is an entrance fee you got to pay, which is different every night depending on the DJ playing on that particular night.
If you're looking to have a good time and go crazy in NYC, I definitely recommend you this rooftop lounge.
15 Thompson St, New York, NY 10013, USA
This is probably one of the most beautiful rooftop bars/pools in NYC, Soho. I don't want you to make the same mistake as I did when I went there, so i'm going to tell you when and how to get in.
The rooftop pool opens on the 20th of May and it open for hotel guests only from Monday to Friday until 5PM and Saturday & Sunday until 3PM.
Make sure you check the hotel's website before you head there, to make sure you will actually be able to get in!
Every Saturday and Sunday, starting at 3PM, Jimmy hosts its Pool Party series, something that you don't wanna miss out on, so make sure you reserve your space, since admission is based on capacity.
7. Arlo RoofTop (A.R.T)
231 Hudson St, New York, NY 10013, USA
I stumbled upon this little gem after having been out for dinner with my friends and we decided to go to the nearest rooftop bar, which happened to be Arlo RoofTop.
This little "urban oasis" is situated on the top of Arlo SoHo and has an incredible view of the Hudson River. My friends and I got so lucky, because there were only a couple other people outside on the rooftop, so we basically had the whole thing for ourselves. Did we take advantage of it? Hell yes!
There's no entrance fee, so just grab a drink and have fun with your friends, or make friends while you're there!
8-08 Queens Plaza South, Queens, NY, 11101
One of the best days of my time spent in New York happened on this rooftop. Got to spend a whole day here with awesome friends, good music and great drinks.
Sunshine, Rooftops, Pool!
All you need is right here!
The pool is closed for the winter and opens only for the summer season.
As far as I remember they opened at around 10 AM and you could stay there till late in the evening.
Entrance was a bit pricey, $50 each for the day, but hell yea I'd do it again!
Now go and enjoy your favourite drinks on either of these rooftop bars!
